Do you sometimes wish you could do more than just post a “Thank you!” status or send customised images to express your gratitude for a friend?

Well, how about a video of you saying thank you, along with a funny or heart-warming message? With Facebook’s new feature, called Say Thanks, you can create and share personalised video cards for that special person.

“Millions of people use Facebook every day to connect with the people and things that matter to them most. Your friends are at the core of your Facebook experience, and we are always looking for new ways to help you celebrate those friendships,” wrote design manager Cameron Ewing and engineering manager Nick Kwiatek in a Facebook blog post.

They added: “Share a Say Thanks video with a close friend, your significant other, a relative, a co-worker, an old friend – or anyone else in your life who you’d like to celebrate.”

Creating a Say Thanks video

The fun starts at facebook.com/thanks. Visit the page and choose a friend to make a Say Thanks video for.

To make your video extra special, you can choose from four different themes and select photos and posts that best reflect your friendship. Once you’re done, Facebook will generate a preview of your video. You can also write a personalised message before posting your Say Thanks video. If you’re happy with it, simply click ‘Share’ to post.

The video will show up on your Timeline and your friend’s as he or she will be tagged in your post.

If you want to create a Say Thanks video for each special person in your life, go right ahead! There’s no limit to how many video cards you can create and share.

Say Thanks has started rolling out globally on November 12th on both desktop and mobile. The feature is available in English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish.
